Folks, it’s no secret that I regularly enjoy a bit of a fiddle, twang and yodel, but usually in the privacy of my own home.
But this weekend, I’ll be taking my battered guitar out to the bustling metropolis of Ubobo, to watch some wonderfully talented folk fiddling, twanging and yodelling their hearts out on stage at the Elders/Bendigo Bank Country Music Campout.
In five short years, this locally grown festival has gone from strength to strength and become a ‘must do event’ on Queensland’s Country Music Calendar.
I’m more of a hillbilly myself, but am slowly turning into an over-the-hill-billy.
As the old joke goes, they’ll have both kinds of music, Country and Western. But there’s a wide variety of live acts offering something for everyone, from Old Country, Pure Country, Country Rock, Country Folk, Country Ballads, and Country Blues. You’ve got to admit, that’s a heck of a lot of country.
Personally, I’m more of a hillbilly myself, but am slowly turning into an over-the-hill-billy.
So, if you’d like to see, and hear, some amazing talent while enjoying genuine country hospitality along with cooking that will curl your cowboy boots, then grab your hat, a chair and your favourite tipple and head out to Ubobo this weekend. I guarantee you’ll have a good old fashioned good time.
And even though they’ve moved it from October to April, I still managed to find out in time and can’t wait to have a little fiddle, twang and yodel in the back paddock with my mates during the breaks.
Feel free to join us!
